Korean Martial Arts Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do

Many parents and kids have all seen the flying kicks, battle cries, and mighty chops of their favorite TV characters, as they beat the bad guys to submission - but, may ask, how on earth can these acts of violence teach children anything worthwhile? First, know that what many parents and kids see on television (i.e. the Karate Kid) is a far cry from what the real martial arts are all about.  The fact is, the martial arts training & studying is based on non-violence.

Originating in Korea, Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do are based on well rounded, moral teachings.  The beauty of learning martial arts is that it encompasses not just the physical aspect of the "sport", but mental, emotional, and life lessons as well.  Comparing that to other kid's activities and sports, where fierce competitiveness and "winning at all costs" seems to be the order of the day, it's not surprising that many children grapple with issues of self-esteem and misplaced aggression.  Now imagine parents and children actually learning valuable life lessons, skills to take throughout life, laying the foundation for a happy, well-adjusted, and fulfilled adult life.

There has never been a better time to learn how to defend your self and your family than right now. Statistics show that most crime happens within a few miles of our own homes as we go about our everyday lives in our schools, neighborhood and even the work place.

It is also a different way to exercise, creating family bonding time, and release stress.

Parental Involvement in your child’s martial arts schooling creates positive effects on student achievement.

Effective Parent Involvement is to actively engage in your child’s daily learning such as what she and/or he learned that day, and their daily or weekly programs & learning objectives.

This type of involvement would have a positive result of learning by improving your child’s physical and mental state to improve self confidence and discipline.  The best way to get involved is for you, parents to join this martial arts program and become a student of martial arts.
